A. Installation Preparation - All Configurations

1. Read this bulletin in its entirety.

2. Unpack and compare the installation kit(s) contents against the Parts Information list.

3. Place the operating guides/client accessories in the glove box or appropriate storage compartment.

4. Remove the trunk mat.

5. Read this installation instruction in its entirety.

6. Unpack and compare the installation kit contents against the Parts Information list.

7. Place the operating guides and customer accessories in the glove box or appropriate storage compartment.

8. Remove the trunk mat.





9. Remove the left liner panel in the trunk secured by a plastic rivet at the top (A, Figure 1) and a T20 Torx fastener at the bottom (B, Figure 1).

Note:
Remove the trunk panel by pulling it toward the front of the vehicle and then the center. Pulling out the panel directly toward to center could result in cracking or breaking the plastic trim at the top, rear of the trunk-well lip (Figure 1).





10. Remove the CD changer/Car Navigation unit bracket assembly by removing the three 8-mm machine screws (A, Figure 2) and the 8-mm collar nut (B, Figure 2).





11. Set aside the bracket assembly without disconnecting the connectors at the back (Figure 3).

12. Cut the wire-tie securing the cables to the top of the bracket (A, Figure 3).

13. Remove the foam sleeve from the cable connectors and save it for later use (B, Figure 3).

14. Identify the cable connector for the:





^ Satellite radio power supply/MOST (A, Figure 4)

^ Compensator "ANTENNA" jack (female connector) (B, Figure 4)

^ Compensator "PORTABLE" jack (male connector) (C, Figure 4)

^ Compensator power supply (D, Figure 4)





15. Remove the amplifier bracket assembly by removing the two 10-mm collar nuts (Figure 5).





16. Turn over the amplifier bracket assembly on its side to expose the AKG unit (Figure 6).

17. Disconnect the power supply/MOST cable connector from the AKG unit (A, Figure 6).

18. Remove the AKG unit by removing the Phillips screw (B, Figure 6) and sliding the tab out of the clip (C, Figure 6).

19. Mount the voice control module (VCM) in the place of the removed AKG unit by inserting the VCM tab into the clip (C, Figure 6) and using the previously removed Phillips screw to secure it (B, Figure 6).

20. Connect the power supply/MOST cable connector (A, Figure 6).

21. Reinstall the amplifier/VCM bracket assembly using the two previously removed 10-mm collar nuts.

Note:
Be careful not to bend, crush, or chafe electrical cables or MOST cables when reinstalling the amplifier/VCM bracket assembly.
