Front Turn Signal Inoperative
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the front turn signal not working, this may be due to an electrical contact problem between the turn signal bulb socket and the headlamp housing. In this case, perform the following repair only on the affected side of the vehicle.
1. Remove E1e5 (left turn signal) or E2e5 (right turn signal) from the headlamp housing.
2. Check the outer electrical contacts of the bulb socket for burn marks. If damage is visible, repair as follows.
3. Disconnect the 6-pin connector at the headlamp housing.
4. Remove retaining clip (Figure 1, 3) from connector (Figure 1, 2) and remove pin 6 from connector (Figure 1, 1). Refer to WIS document Removing Contacts from Sensor Connector, AR00.19-P-0120-02B.
Note:
Both the left and right connectors use the same colored wire (Gray/Black).
5. Plug empty cavity with supplied rubber plug, and reinsert retaining clip into connector (Figure 1, 3).
6. Remove contact housing (Figure 2, 4) from connector (Figure 2, 5) and insert un-pinned turn signal wire removed in step 4 (Figure 2, 1) into socket 2 of contact housing (Figure 2, 4) (from repair set). Prior to assembly, check individual gaskets for proper orientation.
7. Reconnect contact housing (Figure 2, 4) with connector (Figure 2, 5). Housing must audibly click into place.
8. If repairing the right turn signal, connect cable eyelet (Figure 2, 6) of the repair set with the component compartment ground W316 (Figure 3). If repairing the left turn signal, connect cable eyelet with the component compartment ground W317 (Figure 4).
Note:
W316 can be accessed by removing the fog lamp access panel.
9. Install turn signal bulb into socket.
10. Install E1e5 (left turn signal) or E2e5 (right turn signal) socket into the headlamp housing.
11. Re-connect connector (Figure 1, 2) with headlamp housing.
12. Test turn signal for proper operation.
13. Attach repair harness along the original harness with 2 cable ties in such a way that the harness will not be abraded and/or cause any noise.
14. Connect DAS and erase stored fault codes
