Status Indicator, Location/Function

Status Indicator, Location/Function

The status indicator in the TELE AID pushbutton switch (S93/3) serves for checking the function of the TELE AID system.

Every time the TELE AID system is switched on the status indicator comes on for approx. 4 s and signals the readiness for TELE AID for an emergency call. Then the status indicator goes out.

If a TELE AID emergency call is activated, the status display begins flashing (0.5 s on, 0.5 s off, ...) and a message appears in the display of the instrument cluster (see Fig., text field 1). If it was not possible to transmit a TELE AID emergency call (data and voice) and no 112 emergency call the status indicator comes on and a message appears on the display of the instrument cluster (see Fig. text field 2). If a voice connection is completed the status indicator returns the same status as before the emergency call actuation and a message appears on the instrument cluster display.

If the TELE AID system is in the diagnosis mode the status indicator also starts flashing.

A TELE AID system error is present when the status indicator does not go out 5 s after switching on or when it comes on at a later time. A message thereupon appears in the display of the instrument cluster (see Fig., text field 3).

Permanent illumination of the status indicator can have the following causes:
External error
- Tilting cone sensor (B66) faulty
- Power supply too low
- No or incorrect SIM card installed
- Communication with restraint system control module (N2/7) interrupted
- Error in communication with ESP, SPS and BAS control module (N47-5)
- Error on TELE AID pushbutton switch (S93/3)
- Error on GPS reception (antenna system)
- Error in reception with TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50) or CTEL antenna (A2/22)

Internal error
- GPS receiver erroneous
- Vehicle is not authorized or is in the progress of authorization
- Memory defect on telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17)
- The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is not stored in the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) by the user (e.g. after changing PIN number)
- Telephone transmitter/receiver unit integrated in telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) erroneous

NOTE:
- The CTEL and TELE AID transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/17) can be coded with STAR diagnosis so that the status indicator does not come on even when the system is not authorized (all other system errors are indicated).
- The dealer should have the customer confirm deactivation of the status indicator in writing using a preprinted form.
