[4] Crankshaft Sensor: Short Circuit In the Signal Line/Open Circuit In Wiring

[4] Crankshaft sensor: Short circuit in the signal line / Open circuit in wiring [P0335]

Check component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).

Test 1: Test signal voltage of component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).
Test 2: Test internal resistance of component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).

1 Test signal voltage of component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).

Test sequence
- Switch off ignition.
- Connect socket box (36 und 126-pin) to component N3/10 (ME-SFI control module).
- [M14] 14<-->13 [M13]

Specified value: 1
- Engine start
- Voltage >2V

Specified value: 2
- Engine at idle speed
- Voltage >12V

Note: If engine speed rises, the voltage increases.

Question: Are the measured values okay?

No
- The measured values are not o.k.
Possible cause and remedy
- Leads to component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor)
- Test internal resistance of component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).
- The teeth on the increment wheel may be bent.
**End of test**

Yes
- The measured values are o.k.
**End of test**

2 Test internal resistance of component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor).

Test sequence
- Switch off ignition.
- Connect socket box (35 und 126-pin) to component N3/10 (ME-SFI control module).
- [M14] 14<-->13 [M13]
- Connector 1 (126-pin) of component N3/10 (ME-SFI control module) unplugged

Specified value:
- Resistor: [500...1500]

Question: Is the measured value okay?

No
The measured value is not o.k.
Possible cause and remedy
Leads to component L5 (Crankshaft position sensor)
- L5 (Crankshaft position sensor)
**End of test**
