Function prerequisites for all functions of the wiper system (WSA)
- Circuit 15R ON
The wiper system (WSA) is operated by means of the combination switch (S4) that is read by the EIS control unit (N73) up to 30.6.03 or by the steering column module (N80) as of 1.7.03.
The following functions are possible:
- Touch wiping: A single wipe is performed. To do this, push the combination switch (S4) to the detent.
- Intermittent wiping: on vehicles without code (345a) rain sensor. Intermittent wiping with set speeds. To this end, turn the combination switch (S4) to position "I".
- Intermittent wiping: on vehicles with code (345a) rain sensor. Automatic intermittent wipe control by means of the rain sensor (B38) or the rain/light sensor (B38/2). For intermittent wiping, turn the combination switch (S4) to position "I".
- Wiping with slow speed (stage 1, approx. 40 cycles/min.) To this end, turn the combination switch (S4) to position "II".
- Wiping at fast speed (stage 2, approx. 60 cycles/min). To this end, turn the combination switch (S4) to position "III".
- Washing: The windshield is wiped with additional water. To this end, push the combination switch (S4) beyond detent.
Additional functions of the wiper system (WSA) on model 203.2
The operation is controlled by the rear-end door wiper switch (N72/1s12).
- Intermittent wiping of the rear window: on vehicles with code (345a) rain sensor. Automatic intermittent wipe control by means of the rain sensor (B38) or the rain/light sensor (B38/2).
- Washing rear window.
- The back-up wiping function for the rear window is activated by shifting into reverse gear with the front windshield wiper switched on.
