GF82.25-P-0003PP Emergency Alarm System, Function

MODEL 203
- with CODE (930) Taxi emergency call
- with CODE (934) Taxi emergency alarm unit
- up to model year 08/YoM 07

Emergency alarm system
The taxi emergency alarm system (code 934) is a protection facility for the taxi driver. It can be triggered by the driver, if he/she feels threatened by anyone. There are two types of alarm available:
- Quiet alarm (1st stage)
- Active alarm (2nd stage)

Alarm actuation
The emergency alarm is actuated by either the emergency alarm system activate button (S62/6) emergency alarm radio or the remote triggering transmitter (A8/4) . When triggered using the emergency alarm radio remote triggering transmitter (A8/4) an active alarm is always actuated. To avoid any inadvertent activation, the emergency alarm radio remote triggering transmitter (A8/4) has to be pressed twice within 3 seconds.

Depending on the version code entered in the special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS]) (N26/9) there may be no audible or visible confirmation signal to verify that the emergency alarm system has been triggered. The "silent alarm" and the "taxi SOS call" provide inconspicuous operation.

Quiet alarm (1st stage)
The quiet alarm is actuated by pressing the emergency alarm system activate button (S62/6) once. The following actions are performed:
- the roof sign lamp (E14/4) flashes on and off (2.5 Hz)
- the two-way radio (A49) is switched to overhear mode

Activation of the quiet alarm is intended to prevent anyone threatening the taxi driver from being made aware of a triggered alarm.

Alarm cancellation when quiet alarm triggered (1st stage)
An alarm is canceled when the emergency alarm system cancel button (S62/5) is pressed once. This button is located in the trunk. All systems influenced by a triggered alarm are reset to their previous status once the alarm is canceled.

Active alarm (2nd stage)
The active alarm is triggered by pressing the emergency alarm system activate button (S62/6) twice (within 3 seconds) or by pressing the emergency alarm radio remote triggering transmitter (A8/4) twice (within 3 seconds). The following actions are performed:
- the roof sign lamp (E14/4) flashes on and off (2.5 Hz)
- the two-way radio (A49) is switched to overhear mode
- the fanfare horns (H2) sound intermittently (1.6 Hz)
- the high beams (E1e1, E2e1) flash on and off (0.8 Hz)
- all turn signals flash (2.5 Hz)
- the front dome lamp (N70e1) rear interior lamp (E15/3) and light up until the emergency alarm system cancel button (S62/5) is actuated
- for vehicles with taxi emergency call (code 930) a taxi emergency call is transmitted.

Alarm cancellation when active alarm triggered(2nd stage)

Vehicles with taxi emergency call (code 930)
Pressing the emergency alarm system activate button (S62/6) twice (within 3 seconds) or pressing the emergency alarm radio remote triggering transmitter (A8/4) twice (within 3 seconds) makes a taxi emergency call!

The triggered taxi emergency call system can only be reset by the corresponding service provider.

An alarm is canceled when the emergency alarm system cancel button (S62/5) is pressed once. This button is located in the trunk. All systems influenced by a triggered alarm are reset to their previous status once the alarm is canceled.

Apart from the taxi emergency call (code 930) functions.

A specified procedure exists for carrying out an operational check of the taxi emergency call!

Turn signal ranking
If several control units send CAN requests over the CAN interior at the same time to actuate the turn signal indicator, the following ranking applies:
Priority 1: Taxi emergency alarm
Priority 2: ATA
Priority 3: Turn signaling; hazard warning flasher; open/ close
Priority 4: Hazard warning flashing

Variants
To take into account country-specific regulations and/or individual customer requests, all the stated functions can be activated or deactivated using the Star Diagnosis tool.
Apart from this, the special vehicle multifunction control unit (SVMCU [MSS], N26/9) has an extra option whereby the LED roof sign lamps can be actuated. When an alarm is triggered, the poles of the control unit output are continuously switched and the LEDs induced to flash at a frequency of 3.7 Hz.

It is also possible to use the Star Diagnosis tool to switch off the quiet alarm function, so that when the emergency alarm system activate button (S62/6) is pressed once only, the active alarm is then triggered.
