- Special-duty vehicles for private customers (panic-mode alarm)
A multifunction control unit for special-purpose vehicles (MSS) (N26/9) must be installed to serve as the central ECU with all systems. In addition to discharging various internal functions the MSS also serves as the interface linking the interior bus (CAN-B) and those ECUs that are not equipped with a separate individual CAN link.

All functions for special-duty vehicles are controlled and monitored by the multifunction control unit for special-purpose vehicles (MSS) (N26/9)
The control unit distinguishes between two basic status conditions
- taxis and
- all other special-duty vehicles.
Taxis
These vehicles can be equipped with various options. Different version codes in the various control units are employed to adapt the system for application with the different ECUs.
The code for the desired base status is entered into the EZS control unit (N73) using the Star Diagnosis tool.
