All 4MATIC models as of model series 203 feature as standard the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as basic equipment. Also integrated is the electronic traction system (4ETS), which is specially modified for 4MATIC drive. This system replaces the mechanical interaxle and interwheel differential locks of traditional 4MATIC systems.
This reduces the manufacturing costs and the weight.
The fixed drive torque distribution is 40% at the front axle and 60% at the rear axle.
The drive torque is distributed to the drive axles (drive train) via a one-stage transfer case without off-road ratio.
