Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair
AR83.30-P-6520M Remove/Install Receiver Drier
DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.
- Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or naked flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Do not carry out repair work on the circuit of the air conditioning system unless the system is drained.
CAUTION:
- Conduct if air conditioning system is damaged or leaking
- Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.
1 Drain air conditioning (recycle)
CAUTION: Add extracted quantity of compressor oil to the refrigerant circuit again when filling the air conditioning system (fresh oil).
NOTE: Installation: Drain air conditioning system, evacuate, fill, inspect for leaks.
2 Remove lower engine compartment lining
3 Disconnect refrigerant pressure sensor connector (B12)
4 Unplug connector (B12/1) at temperature sensor
5 Remove screws (3) at fluid reservoir
CAUTION:
- Plug openings (parts kit)
- Installation: Replace O-rings. When installing lines, moisten threads with compressor oil.
- Lines on receiver/drier: 10 N.m
6 Unscrew nuts (4)
7 Withdraw fluid reservoir downwards (1) with strap retainer
8 Loosen strap restrainer (5) with retaining lugs and pull off
9 Install in the reverse order.
NOTE: Observe quantity of oil to be added when replacing receiver/drier.
- Additional oil filling capacity when replacing receiver/drier: 10 cu.cm
DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you hold your hand into engine when it is started or when it is running
- Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off by itself
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
10 Switch on air conditioning and allow it to idle for approx. 4 minutes
NOTE: Set center nozzle temperature control dial to limit stop in blue range, turn left and right temperature dials on air-conditioning control to "LO", Blower to max.
11 Check air conditioning for proper function
NOTE: Air outlet temperature at center nozzle should not drop below + 5 degrees C, if necessary, carry out diagnosis.
