AUDIO GATEWAY (AGW) FLASH UPDATE

Note:
This Service Campaign Supersedes DTB P-B-82.62/410 Performing this Campaign with DTB 82.62/410, in any combination, will result in a charge back of the DTB.

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on certain mentioned model 215 and 220 vehicles (see VIN range below), a software update to the Audio Gateway (AGW) must be carried out for the following:

^ Temporary no audio at system start-up

^ Auto-Store search does not store stations

^ Multiple AGW wake up at start-up that maybe noted by user

Please review the Effective Serial Number chart located below and if necessary repair the subject vehicles during the vehicle's next service.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin.

Approximately 1,309 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:
^ STAR Diagnosis DAS software 10/04 with the patch 2004-10-26-0307 (or later DAS release) must be on SDS prior to performing this campaign and the following SDflash CD is required: SDflash Release CD: 000 448 0000 0005 or later (insert into Star Diagnosis CD drive as indicated in the following steps).

^ Preflash requirements:

^ Battery voltage > 12.5 volts,

^ Battery charger connected to vehicle's battery.

^ Turn off all unnecessary electrical consumers (e.g.: A/C, lights, etc.

1. Connect SDS to vehicle through the 16 pin diagnostic connector (X11/4).

2. Insert SDflash Release CD into Star Diagnosis.

3. Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS to flash Audio Gateway:

Control units/Information and Communication/Audio-Video Navigation and Telematics/AGW - Audio Gateway (MOST network management, diagnosis gateway, radio tuner)/initial start-up/Control module programming (select: Determination of new control unit software and subsequent control unit programming)

4. Follow DAS on-screen instructions.

5. Erase fault memory.

6. Exit DAS, disconnect from vehicle's diagnostic port and remove ignition key.

7. Wait approximately 5 minutes and then start diagnosis with SDS again.

8. Perform Short Test and clear all DTCs.

Note:
^ If flash is not successful, please call the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for further assistance. To close-out this Campaign, submit a Warranty Claim according to Procedures as outlined.

^ After updating the AGW, please check the version of the AGW and insure the version coding has been successful. Software status should be 25/04

^ No other labor operation codes can be claimed with this repair.
