GF40.15-P-0001-04RB Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to the Function

GF40.15-P-0001-04RB Tire pressure monitor (TPM), messages relevant to the function
- with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version
- as of 1.6.04 up to 31.5.05

Function-relevant messages appear on the left multifunction display (A1p13) and the right multifunction display (A1p15) of the instrument cluster (A1) when the current tire pressures and operation-relevant messages cannot be displayed.

Message relevant to the function are divided into:
^ System fault(s)
^ System messages

System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.

System messages describe a regular operating condition and in the case of a fault there is no reason to exchange system components.

The following messages relevant to the function can occur:

This message ensues in the event of faults in the CAN data bus or in the event of a failure of a system component or at least 1 wheel is fitted without wheel electronics. A corresponding fault code is stored in the TPM control unit (N88).

System fault(s)
This message is output by the instrument cluster (A1) when it does not receive any CAN messages from the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) or the instrument cluster (A1) itself is faulty. In addition the message ensues in the event of cable discontinuities or a connector which has fallen off the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88).

If the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) is disconnected and then connected again when the ignition is ON, then this message likewise ensues.

System messages
This system message appears once the system is activated. This is necessary for changes in tire inflation pressure, a tire change or wheel change.

Activation is possible when the ignition is ON or the engine is running.

System messages

Request for system activation.
This system message is displayed if:
^ The tire inflation pressure is more than 0.3 bar above the stored specified pressure
^ The TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) has been replaced.
^ A red message, relevant to operation, has been displayed in the previous ignition sequences.

This system message is also displayed for approx. 30 seconds each time the vehicle is restarted, as soon as in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) the monitoring function has been set to "Not active".

System messages

This system message is activated for the following criteria:
^ An external interference transmitter hinders data transfer.
^ Temperature of at least one wheel sensor > 120 degrees C.
^ There is at least 1 additional wheel sensor in the vehicle (e.g. winter wheels in luggage compartment).

Information messages

The pressure values are only shown following activation, once the system has detected a clear assignment.

Information messages

This message appears if the tire pressure monitor was switched off by diagnosis. It is only possible to switch on the tire pressure monitor using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
