Vario Roof Cannot Be Opened / Closed Via Infrared Function (Code 880)
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicle that the vario roof cannot be opened / closed since one or both door windows do not lower when opening / closing the vario roof via the infrared function on the smart key, this may be caused by a software error in the door control unit when it processes the signal from the infrared receiver next to the driver's side door handle. Infrared frequency interference from other sources when the vario roof is to be opened / closed can cause the door control unit software to hang up. When this occurs, the signal can be reset temporarily by either waiting for the CAN bus to go to sleep or by opening and then closing the door on the side(s) where the window did not lower. As an alternative, the roof can be opened or closed by using the switch on the center console. The door control units must not be replaced for this complaint. To resolve this condition permanently, proceed as follows.
1. Use Star Diagnosis to complete parameterization of the door control unit
2. Select seats and doors
3. Select DCM-R Door control module right
4. Select troubleshooting by means of complaint or symptoms
5. Select power windows sometimes nonfunctional
6. Select perform parameterization with F2
7. Repeat above steps for the driver's side door control unit.
