1 Mark cutout for roof sign bracket when trim strip installed, as per drawing opposite.
2 Remove roof trim strip (9).
3 Separate roof trim strip at marked positions.
4 Apply corrosion protection at cutting edges, refer to: Paint manual (LHB)

5 Push lowest blind plug inwards and out of grommet bar in the water trough at right using a suitable tool.
The roof sign line (3) is supplied with a separating point at the module box.

6 Route roof sign line (3) from outside through grommet bar up to end stop and along the existing wiring harness to the frame floor system.
7 Connect roof sign line (3) with wiring harness for frame floor system at separation point for roof sign lamp (X41/5).
8 Route roof sign line (3) along existing wiring harness in the water trough up to the module box.
Ensure that it cannot chafe.
If necessary, pull line (3) using suitable aid (e.g. vacuum line) over the firewall crossmember and under the master brake cylinder.






9 Insert 2nd part of line (3) with white mark level with windshield upper edge into the roof drip molding, and route between the holding clips of the trim strip and the windshield to the module box.
Fasten the line using sealing profile at 4 points along the windshield.






10 Fasten line (3) with edge guard onto fender, and fasten between the water deflector and water drain along the hood release cable up to the module box.
Check that there is sufficient clearance for the hood hinge.

11 Connect connector (X40) and clamp between module box and shock absorber tower.
Make sure that the line (3) and the connector (X40) do not generate any noise.






12 Fasten line (3) into the roof drip molding at 3 positions on the outside of the drip molding using sealing profile.
The line (3) must be routed on the roof frame side (arrows).

13 Install roof trim strip (9).






14 Insert clamping pieces (10a, 10b) on both sides of the fold.
Check that the roof sign line (E14/4) is routed such that it will not chafe.

15 Insert bracket (10) between the ends of the roof trip strip (9), so that the roof sign line plug (E14/4) can be stowed in the large opening of bracket (10).
16 Place roof sign bracket over the clamping pieces and screw down using clamping piece (10a).
17 Place cover (10c) on bracket (10) and line up with the threaded holes of bracket (10).
18 Use the two mounting screws (10d) to screw the bracket (10) onto the drip molding.
Check that the bracket (10) is firmly seated.
