Component Identification:

Location
The evaporator is located in the AC housing behind the instrument panel.

Task
The evaporator is used to cool, dehumidify and clean the interior air.

Design
Disk evaporator made from soldered semicircular disks with corrugated ribs.

Function
The refrigerant, which is under high pressure, is injected via the expansion valve into the evaporator.
The refrigerant evaporates, and in doing so it withdraws the required evaporation heat from the air flowing past the evaporator.

The soldered semicircular disks with corrugated ribs provide a large evaporation surface and guarantee rapid heat exchange. The humidity which condenses during the air cooling process is diverted by way of condensed water drainage hoses into the open.
