Component Identification:

Location
The heat exchanger shutoff motor is located at the left rear side of the engine compartment.

Task
The heat exchanger shutoff motor regulates the flow of temperature-controlled coolant to the heating system heat exchanger.

Function
The heat exchanger shutoff motor is actuated by the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) after a request from the AAC control and operating unit (N22) (without code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning) or the comfort AAC (C-AAC) control and operating unit (N22/7) (with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning) in such a way that an adequate quantity of temperature-controlled coolant is always available.

Opening of heat exchanger shutoff motor
The heat exchanger shutoff motor is opened as soon as a heating request is present.

Closing of heat exchanger shutoff motor
The heat exchanger shutoff motor is closed as soon as a heating request is no longer present.

The only settings are "open" and "closed"; there are no intermediate settings.
