REPLACE SIDE DRIP RAILS

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on the affected vehicles the corrosion protection of the side drip rails may be insufficient due to an inadequate pre-treatment by the supplier. Dealers will replace the side drip rails on all affected vehicles.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired. If necessary, repair the subject vehicle during the vehicle's next service.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 5,986 vehicles are affected.

Procedure





1. Remove existing drip rails (A, Figure 1).

^ Unclip drip rails first at A-pillars, then in roof area.





^ Use an assembly wedge shown (Special Tool W 110 589 03 59 00) to remove unclipped drip rails.

^ If necessary, replace roof area clips.

2. Install new drip rails.

Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
