Wiper start suppression function
The wipe cycle is suppressed, if the driver or front passenger door is opened at a speed of less than 3 km/h.
The status of the door contact switches is read in by the rear SAM control unit and transmitted via CAN-B to the driver-side SAM control unit.
On vehicles up to 31.5.06 (not (United States Of America) or (Japan)) or up to 30.6.06 (only (United States Of America) or (Japan)) the wipe cycle is also suppressed when the engine hood is unlocked.
The wipers resume operation after suppression if:
^ Selector lever in position "D" or "R" and driver or front
^ speed over 3 km/h or
^ continuous wiping activated
With transmission 722.6 the selector lever position is transmitted to the central gateway control unit by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) or with transmission 722.9 by the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit (Y3/8n4).
