Wiper Arm: Testing and Inspection

Wiper Arm Test And Adjustment Values:

Special Tools:

1 Insert adapter (B) into the guide (arrow) of the choke angle gauge (A) and fasten with knurled bolt to choke angle gauge (A). Remove adapter (B) and choke angle gauge (A) from the adjustment tool set.







2 Slide adapter (B) with the choke angle gauge (A) onto the wiper blade mount of the driver-side wiper arm (1).
3 Lower driver-side wiper arm (1) until all three contacting points of the choke angle gauge foot (A) touch the windshield.
4 Read off angle of incidence of the driver-side wiper arm (1) on the scale of the choke angle gauge (A), write down, and compare to the corresponding test and adjustment value.

In right-hand drive vehicles, the sign of the corresponding test and adjustment value has to be changed.







5 Lift driver-side wiper arm (1) and remove choke angle gauge (A).
6 Repeat testing procedure for front passenger side wiper arm.
7 Lift driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger side wiper arm and manually move into the parking position.

When changing from reverse position to parked position, it has to be observed that the driver-side wiper arm (1) and the front passenger side wiper arm do not have any direct contact to the windshield to prevent it from being scratched.

8 Slide choke angle gauge (A) onto the wiper blade mount of the driver-side wiper arm (1).
9 Lower driver-side wiper arm (1) until all three contacting points of the choke angle gauge foot (A) touch the windshield.
10 Read off angle of incidence of the driver-side wiper arm (1) on the scale of the choke angle gauge (A), write down, and compare to the corresponding test and adjustment value.

In right-hand drive vehicles, the sign of the corresponding test and adjustment value has to be changed.

11 Lift driver-side wiper arm (1), remove choke angle gauge (A) and carefully place driver-side wiper arm (1) onto the windshield.
12 Repeat testing procedure for front passenger side wiper arm.
