Component Identification:

The transfer case consists of a central differential and a gear chain to the front axle in a single-offset structure. The helical spur gears are supported in tapered roller bearings and simultaneously serve as an oil pump for the transfer case. It has its own oil system for lubrication and for heat dissipation.

The spur gears achieve a large overall overlap in order to minimize the noise development from the transfer case.

The transfer case and transfer case cover consist of a light alloy and are bolted together. The housing contains a double planetary gear set.
