Interior - Console Rear Ventilation Duct Rattling

Rattling Noise in Area of the Center Console Rear Ventilation Duct

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a rattling noise in the area of the center console rear ventilation air duct, follow the procedure below for corrective actions.

Repair A: Center console rear ventilation air duct contacts the footwell duct. Up to VIN A368543
1. Pull out footwell carpet at right of center console.





2. Glue felt between rear ventilation air duct and footwell duct (Figure 1).
3. Install footwell carpet at right of center console.

Repair B: Tab of the rear ventilation air duct rattles against the mounting strip for the instrument panel. Up to VIN A404697
1. Remove ashtray. Refer to WIS document AR68.20-P-2400M.
2. Remove ACC operating and control unit (N22). Refer to WIS document AR83.40-P-6350M.








3. Glue felt between instrument panel mounting strip and rear ventilation air duct, see (Figure 2) and (Figure 3).
4. Install ACC operating and control unit and ashtray.

Rattling noise in rear area of the rear ventilation air duct, rectify (up to VIN 368543) (02-4732)
