REPLACE TRANSMISSION PILOT BUSHING AT ELECTROHYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE (722.6 TRANSMISSION)
This service campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on affected vehicles a component of the automatic transmission, namely the electrohydraulic control module pilot bushing, may have been installed with a seal ring that does not meet specifications. This may cause a small transmission oil leak to occur. Dealer will replace the electrohydraulic control module pilot bushing.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.
Shown in this bulletin is a sample copy of a letter which owners of the affected vehicles will receive.
Approximately 2,786 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
CAUTION!
Ensure the temperature of the transmission oil is not higher than 50°C prior to starting repairs.
Note:
If the vehicle has not been operated in a while, run the engine to fill the torque converter with transmission fluid to reduce the amount of fluid that will run out when the pilot bushing is removed.
1. Remove bottom rear engine compartment paneling.
2. Remove heat shield (arrow, Figure 1).
3. Disconnect electrical connector at transmission.
4. Remove pilot bushing mounting bolt as shown in Figure 2; remove pilot bushing (A, Figures 1 and 2).
Note:
When removing the pilot bushing, catch any transmission fluid that might leak out.
5. Install new pilot bushing and reassemble in reverse order.
^ Torque pilot bushing mounting bolt to 3 Nm.
^ Torque heat shield bolt to 6 Nm.
6. Reinstall underbody paneling.
Note:
Ensure the transmission is cold (approx. 25°C) prior to performing step 7.
7. Remove breakaway locking tab from dipstick tube cap and check fluid level; the fluid level must be between the min and max marks (A, Figure 3).
^ Refill transmission fluid to correct level.
^ Install new locking tab.
