Location
The audio/video controller control unit is located freely accessible in the rear center console.

Task
The audio/video controller control unit allows the rear passenger to use all audio and video sources connected to the audio/video controller control unit as well as the integrated DVD drive during a trip, independent of the COMAND control unit (A40/3).

Design
A DVD drive is integrated into the audio/video controller control unit. 4 connection groups are available to connect external audio and video sources. The audio/video controller control unit is equipped with an interface to the telematics CAN for communication with the COMAND control unit.

Function

The user can operate the audio/video controller control unit via the function keys of the left rear display (A40/5), the right rear display (A40/6), and centrally via the RCP [HBF] control unit (N72/2). The representation of the user interface with the selection menus is implemented via the left rear display or the right rear display.
Different audio and video sources can be used simultaneously. Audio or video sources connected to the audio/video controller control unit can only be controlled by this control unit. Only the audio output to the speaker system of the vehicle can be controlled by the COMAND control unit.
The video data are sent via a digital connection between the audio/ video controller control unit and the left rear display or the right rear display. However, video data between the TV combination tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) and the audio/video controller control unit are transferred via a video line (Y/C connection).

The audio signals are sent via an analog connection to the audio tuner control unit (N93/1) or output via headphones.
