Adjusting possibilities
The following adjustments can be performed on the front seats:
^ Head restraint adjustment (A)
^ Backrest adjustment (B)
^ Seat height adjustment (C)
^ Seat fore/aft adjustment (D)
^ Seat cushion fore/aft adjustment (E)
^ Seat cushion inclination adjustment (F)
Head restraint presetting
The position of the head restraint is preset depending upon the fore/aft adjustment position. The function can be switched on and off via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
Front passenger seat head restraint lowering mechanism (not (United States Of America), for vehicles up to 31.5.07)
If the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48) recognizes a front passenger seat that is not occupied, the head restraint moves to the lowermost position.
Easy entry/exit feature for driver seat
In order to make it easier to get into and out, the driver seat and steering column are moved into the easy entry/exit position.
Memory function With code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
Three seat adjustments each can be stored and retrieved again for the driver and the front passenger.

Adjusting possibilities of the front passenger seat by the driver through the left front seat operation switch group (gentlemen function).
With code (223) Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats, lumbar support and pneumatically raisable head restraints Adjusting possibility of the front passenger seat from the rear via the right rear seat operation switch group (S55/2).
The adjustment of the driver seat is performed by the motors (M27/1, M27/4, M27/5, M27/8, M27/9 and M27/10), the adjustment of the front passenger seat by the motors (M28/1, M28/4, M28/5, M28/8, M28/9 and M28/10). Each motor is equipped with a Hall sensor for position registration, collision avoidance and lockup recognition.
The actuation and evaluation is accomplished by the respective left front seat control unit (N32/1) or right front seat control unit (N32/2). The max. ranges of adjustment of the seat adjustment are stored in the seat control unit.
A normalization of the seat adjustment is required for the automatic functions.
