GF32.25-P-5101SX Suspension strut component description
- with CODE (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension)
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

The suspension strut performs all the functions to be carried out in connection with suspension, level control and level adjustment as well as damping. A single-tube gas-filled shock absorber and a chamber (additional air volume container) for additional air volume is integrated into the front axle suspension strut.

On the shock absorber the left front axle damping valve unit is mounted via which the damping is controlled.

Component Identification:

The suspension strut performs all the functions to be carried out in connection with suspension, level control and level adjustment as well as damping.
A single-tube gas-filled shock absorber and a chamber (additional air volume container) for additional air volume is integrated into the rear axle suspension strut.

On the shock absorber the left rear axle damping valve unit is mounted via which the damping is controlled.

The vehicle weight is supported by the compressible air enclosed in the air spring bellows of the suspension struts. The air is located in the air chamber.

The air spring bellows of the suspension struts designed as a hose roller bellows is made of rubber. In the event of dynamic loading while driving, the air bellows unrolls parallel to the McPherson axle and thus ensures the required spring travel.

The suspension strut rolling zone is sealed to the outside using a protective boot to protect against dirt.

The vehicle level is raised and lowered by increasing/reducing the air pressure in the air chamber and in the additional volume container which results in a lengthening or shortening of the suspension strut.
