A. Power Closing on Left and Right Rear Door Not Operating Correctly
B. Opening Left and Right Rear Door From Outside, Handle Does Not Return to Rest Position
C. Outside Left and Right Rear Door Handle Does Not Operate Correctly
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding any of the subject conditions, this may be due to the condition of the white plastic washer on the door lock bearing bracket. An improved washer is now available and must be installed. It is no longer necessary to replace the door latch.
1. Remove door module on rear door per WIS document AR72.12-P-0103SX.
2. Remove door module complete with lock and bearing bracket from door and place on a suitable surface.
3. Replace white plastic washer on bearing bracket (Figure 1) by first removing the E-clip and then the white plastic washer and then the white plastic washer.
4. Push shaft approximately 3 cm back.
5. Clean the bore in the bearing bracket using engine/parts cleaner and wipe dry.
6. Spray lock cylinder grease into the bore.
7. Press shaft back into position.
8. From the repair kit, install the new black plastic washer and the new E-clip (Figure 2).
9. Reinstall door module complete with lock and bearing bracket.
10. Reinstall door module on rear door per WIS document AR72.12-P-0103SX.
11. Reinstall door lining on rear door per WIS document AR72.12-P-1010SX.
