CHECK COOLANT LINE AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY (M275 ENGINE)
This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on affected vehicles it is possible that the connection of the coolant line to the engine may not meet specifications. Under extremely high engine operating temperatures this may lead to long term coolant system overheating. Dealers will check the coolant line and replace it as a preventative measure if necessary.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.
A sample copy of a letter which owners of the affected vehicles will receive is included.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 386 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
1. Remove front engine cover.
2. Check color coding on underside of coolant line (A, Figure 1) using an inspection mirror.
3. Perform one of the following:
^ If only one white dot is present: Proceed to step 4 to replace coolant line.
^ If one or more dots of different colors are present in addition to white dot: Reinstall engine cover; this campaign has been completed.
4. Drain coolant; refer to WIS document AR20.00-P-1142H.
Note:
Only drain the coolant from the radiator-not the entire system.
5. Replace coolant line (A).
^ Replace sealing ring.
^ Torque bolts to 8 Nm.
6. Refill coolant.
7. Reinstall engine cover.
