GF82.61-P-0001-07CW Auto Pilot System (APS), Switch On And Switch Off Characteristics
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- with CODE (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer

Activating the overall system
When the transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted into the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) in position 0 (circuit 15C), all data bus systems are activated to ensure a quicker switch-on process. When the transmitter key is in position 1 (circuit 15R ON), the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) is switched on, provided that it was on before the transmitter key was last remove The system that was active before the last switch-off (e.g. radio tuner) is switched on and the corresponding basic menu is displayed. If the radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) has been switched off for longer than t = 30 minutes, then a warning appears first with general instructions for using the system.

Conduct when pushing "ON" button
The radio with auto pilot system and the Audio/COMAND display can also be switched on when the transmitter key is removed by pressing the button "ON".

All functions are then available for t = 30 minutes Then the radio with auto pilot system switches off automatically.

Switch-off characteristics
The radio with auto pilot system is switched off when the transmitter key is removed (circuit 15C OFF). The run-on time of t = 30 min. (standby) of the navigation system starts. During the run on time, all the important localizing parameters remain stored. The run-on time of the audio systems is adjustable and set during the installation of the radio with auto pilot system in the plant. The radio with auto pilot system, when it is not switched on, is always in "standby" mode when the interior CAN is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage
If there is an undervoltage from the on-board electrical system battery (G1), a message appears in the Audio/COMAND display requesting that the engine be started. If the engine is not started up, yet another warning is issued after 3 minutes have elapsed indicating that only 10 s remain to switch the engine on before the system is run down.

If the system has shut down and the on-board voltage rises again, the radio with auto pilot system will not be automatically switched on again. The system can be switched on again manually. The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.

Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached
If the destination of the route guidance has not been reached, the navigation system of the radio with auto pilot system acts as follows when the engine is shut off:
^ Navigation remains active up to t = 30 min. (e.g. refueling stop). Navigation continues from where it left off after restarting the vehicle.
^ After t = 30 min up to a maximum of t = 2 hrs, the radio with auto pilot system remains in "Sleep mode". The route is re- calculated after restarting the vehicle and the navigation continued.
^ After t = 2 hrs., a request is displayed when the vehicle is restarted asking if the route is to be calculated again.
"YES" = Route is calculated again.
"NO" = Navigation will cease.
