GF82.61-P-2011CWA Route Guidance Via Voice Output, Function
- with CODE (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Function requirements
^ Status "circuit 30 ON" or "circuit 15R ON"
^ Auto pilot system (APS) is authorized and operating free of faults
^ Up-to-date navigation data available

General
The route guidance through voice output function is an assistance function that assists the driver without distracting him from the traffic. The destination-oriented navigation of the navigation system is primarily supported by voice outputs with the following information:
^ Directional instructions
^ Name of the next road to turn into

The voice output of the navigation system features the following
languages:
^ German
^ English
^ French
^ Spanish
^ Portuguese
^ Italian
^ Dutch
^ Swedish
^ Danish
^ Russian
^ Turkish

Additional voice messages take place at the start of the route calculation, when an intermediate destination is reached, or when the destination is reached.

Function sequence for route guidance through voice outputs
The radio with auto pilot system (A2/56), through the integrated navigation processor, combines the word segments into complete instructions or information during a voice output and generates low frequency (LF) signals. The LF signals are forwarded, if necessary, over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system), where they are amplified and output over discrete lines to the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker (H4/1)
^ Right front door speaker (H4/2)
^ Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)

In vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the LF signals are amplified in the radio with auto pilot system and output over discrete lines directly to the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker

Operating instructions
The radio with auto pilot system is operated using the following components:
^ Using the buttons on the radio with auto pilot system
^ Using the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
^ Using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

If voice output is active, the volume of the announcements can be adjusted using the following components:
^ Using the volume controller on the radio with auto pilot system
^ Using the buttons + or - of the right multifunction steering wheel button group

The volume of the audio outputs is adapted dynamically to the noise level in the vehicle interior. The following systems are used:
^ Speed-dependent volume control (SDV), except code (810) Sound system
^ Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO), with code (810) Sound system

A special note is given during voice output in the following cases:
^ Destination in area not accessible by car
^ Destination in area with restricted traffic access
^ Route via ferry
^ Route via toll road
