^ Start of route calculation

In the following instances a special instruction is issued during voice output:
^ Destination lies in area where driving is only possible to a limited extent
^ Route via ferry
^ Route via toll road

Function sequence
The voice data is originally stored on the navigation DVD as individual word segments. This data record is automatically transmitted from the DVD into the navigation processor (with hard disk) of the COMAND controller unit where it is stored. The voice output is forwarded, if necessary, over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system), where it is amplified and output over discrete lines to the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker (H4/1)
^ Right front door speaker (H4/2)
^ Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place on discrete lines via the COMAND control unit to the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker

When voice output is active the announcement volume can be adjusted using the following components:
^ The volume controller on the COMAND controller unit
^ The buttons + and - for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) of the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
