GF82.60-P-3020CWB Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Function

GF82.60-P-3020CWB Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- with CODE (537) Digital radio

Function requirements
^ Status "circuit 30 ON" or "circuit 15R ON"
^ Auto pilot system (APS) is authorized and operating free of faults
^ Multifunction antenna (A28/11) and TV antenna amplifier 1 and DAB Band III (A94/1) are operating free of faults

General
The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) permits the reception of stations in the Digital Audio Broadcasting (Digital Radio) (DAB) format. The DAB functions are controlled via the radio with auto pilot system (A2/56). The necessary information or displays, e.g. station name, in vehicles with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer are output via the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) and additionally in the instrument cluster (A1) (Mid-Line version).

Operating instructions
The system can be operated using the following components:
^ Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
^ Group of buttons on right of multifunction steering wheel (S111)
^ Buttons of the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)

Function sequence for DAB radio
^ The multifunction antenna receives DAB-L-BAND signals for the local provision, contains mostly conurbation stations.
^ The TV and DAB Band III antenna receives DAB BAND III signals for the widespread provision, contains mostly stations with a wide range or national stations.

The signals are forwarded to the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit using coaxial cables. In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the data is exchanged between the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit, the radio with auto pilot system and the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). The audio output takes place over the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker (H4/1)
^ Right front door speaker (H4/2)
^ Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
^ Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
^ Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
^ Bass speaker (H4/29)
^ Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
^ Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the data is exchanged between the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit and the radio with auto pilot system via MOST. The audio output is relayed over discrete lines by the radio with auto pilot system itself over the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Left rear door speaker
^ Right rear door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker

Diagnosis
The radio with auto pilot system is the diagnosis gateway for all MOST subscribers. Diagnosis takes place over the diagnostic CAN and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) over the interior CAN to the radio with auto pilot system by means of the Keyword 2000 protocol. All other control units in MOST are also diagnosed via this interface at the same time.
