GF88.79-P-2002CW Fold In Left/Right Outside Mirror, Function

GF88.79-P-2002CW Fold In Left/right Outside Mirror, Function
- with CODE (500) Folding left/right outside mirrors
- up to model year 08

Function sequence for fold in left/right outside mirror switch, general
The fold in left/right outside mirror switch includes a number of partial functions. These are:
^ Manually folding-in/out
^ Automatically folding-in/out

Manually folding-in/out

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15R On
^ No overvoltage/undervoltage
^ Vehicle speed v < 47 km/h

Function sequence for manually folding-in/out
When the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S20s9) is actuated momentarily, the mirror housings can be moved to the garage position (folded in) or the drive position (folded out). The corresponding adjustment request of the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) via left door LIN.
The left front door control unit has the master function during the adjustment and relays the signals to the right front door control unit (N69/2) via interior CAN.

The left front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/ out electric motor (M21/1m3) in the left outside mirror (M21/1) and the right front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/ out electric motor (M21/2m3) in the right outside mirror (M21/2). If the function requirement circuit 15R On is not present after starting to fold in or out, the adjustment is continued until the end position is reached.

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the current circuit status via interior CAN and chassis CAN.

Automatically folding-in/out

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15C Off
^ Function in instrument cluster (A1) activated
^ Mirror housing actuated last in folding out direction (when folding in)
^ Mirror housing previously folded in automatically (when folding out)

Function sequence for automatically folding-in/out
When the vehicle is locked with the central locking (CL) from outside with the transmitter key (A8/1), both mirror housings are folded in automatically (garage position). The next time the vehicle is unlocked with the CL and the driver or passenger door are opened, the mirror housings are returned to the previous position
If the mirror housings are still folded in with circuit 15R On, with a previous automatic folding-in procedure, the mirror housings are folded out immediately.
If the mirror housings were manually adjusted to the garage position, the mirror housings are not adjusted via the automatic adjustment

The master for this function is the left front door control unit, responsible for actuating the left mirror housing as well as for transmission of the corresponding signals to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN to actuate the right mirror housing.

After circuit 30 is reset on the left front door control unit, the function is reactivated, if the vehicle speed exceeds v = 47 km/h or the outside mirror fold-in/out switch is actuated once.
