GF91.60-P-0002CW Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), Function

GF91.60-P-0002CW Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), Function

Function requirements
^ The supplemental restraint system (SRS) has to be programmed for the vehicle (left-hand or right-hand drive vehicle, equipment programming, and configuration parameters)
^ C. 15R On

Supplemental restraint system (SRS), function
The SRS comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor
^ Triggering the SRS in the event of a:
- frontal impact,
- rear end collision or
- side impact

^ System monitoring

The central control of the SRS is carried out by the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10).

The following restraint systems can be activated:
^ Driver emergency tensioning retractor unit
^ Front passenger emergency tensioning retractor unit
^ Left rear emergency tensioning retractor unit
^ Right rear emergency tensioning retractor unit
^ Driver airbag unit (two-stage)
^ Front passenger airbag unit (two-stage)
^ Left windowbag unit
^ Right windowbag unit
^ Driver sidebag unit
^ Front passenger sidebag unit
^ Left rear sidebag unit (with code (293) Left and right rear sidebag)
^ Right rear sidebag unit (with code (293) Left and right rear sidebag)
^ Driver-side NECK-PRO head restraint
^ Passenger-side NECK-PRO head restraint
^ Driver kneebag unit (not (United States Of America) and (Canada))

In addition to triggering the restraint equipment, the supplemental restraint system control unit prompts the following procedures in the event of a crash:
^ Engine shutoff Door
^ lock unlocking
^ Side window lowering for pressure compensation purposes and for ventilation of the vehicle interior
^ Activation of hazard warning lamp function
^ Triggering of pyrofuse
^ Transmission of an emergency call (with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)

System monitoring
The SRS monitors itself permanently and transmits errors to the driver via the supplemental restraint system indicator lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster (A1). Additionally, the automatic child seat recognition warning lamp (S6/1e1) (with code (U18) Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR [AKSE]) is switched on. All faults are stored in the nonvolatile memory of the supplemental restraint system control unit. The indicator lamp and warning lamp are switched off after t = 4 s following a successful self-test.

Capacitor
The supplemental restraint system control unit ensures an energy reserve for at least t = 300 ms following a battery disconnection.

Seat belt lock system
Independent from the supplemental restraint system control unit, the seat belt extension is locked in certain situations.
