GF82.35-P-3002CW Windshield Washer, Function

GF82.35-P-3002CW Windshield Washer, Function

Function requirements:
^ C. 15R On

General washing function sequence
The general function sequence consists of several component functions. These are:
^ Wash
^ Follow-up wiping
^ Clean headlamps
(with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system)

Washing function sequence
The washing function is activated by pressing the combination switch (S4) in axial direction beyond the detent point. The combination switch is read in by the steering column module control unit (N80).
The steering column tube module control unit sends the "wash" request over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), which then actuates the windshield washer system pump (M5/1).
During washing, wiping takes place with the wiper speed set on the combination switch. When the combination switch is in the rest position, wiping takes place with speed "3".

Function interruption:
^ Circuit 50 On (engine start)
^ Engine hood open (only with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))

If "washing" is continuously requested for t > 15 s, a "stuck button" is detected and the actuation is canceled. Afterwiping takes place three times.

Afterwiping function sequence
Afterwiping becomes active as soon as the combination switch is no longer activated. The number of after wipe cycles depends on the combination switch actuation time:
^ Actuation time t < 200 ms:
Afterwiping does not take place.
^ Actuation time t < 1 s:
A single after wipe occurs.
^ Actuation time t > 1 s:
Three afterwipes occur.

Active afterwiping is communicated to the rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) by the front SAM control unit via wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN.
Consequently, no wiping requests of the rain/light sensor are made during afterwiping.
Afterwiping takes place with the wiper speed set on the combination switch. When the combination switch is in the rest position, afterwiping takes place with speed "3".

Function sequence for cleaning the headlamps
After 10 actuations each of the washing function (with low beams switched on), the headlamp cleaning system pump (M5/2) is switched on automatically for cleaning the headlamps. The actuation takes place via the front SAM control unit. The internal counter is reset to "0" with circuit 15 Off.

The telescopic nozzles are extended through the water pressure and the washer fluid escapes from the telescopic nozzles. After ending the actuation of the headlamp cleaning system pump, the pressure is relieved and the telescopic nozzles retract automatically.
