GF82.30-P-3004SX Windshield Wiper, Function

Component Identification:

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15R On

Function of automatic control
By turning the combination switch to
^ position "1" (wiping at a lower sensitivity) or to
^ position "2" (wiping at a higher sensitivity),
the automatic wiper control (rain sensor mode) is switched on.
The respective position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column module and placed on the chassis CAN. The central gateway control unit picks off the required data, routes them on the interior CAN, where they are signaled to the rain/light sensor by the overhead control panel via a serial interface.

The rain/light sensor calculates the frequency of the required wipe operations based on the position of the combination switch and the degree of wetting.
The request by the rain/light sensor is signaled by the overhead control panel via the serial interface to the front SAM control unit, which actuates the wiper motors accordingly.

Function abort
^ Turning the combination switch to position "0", "3" or "4"
^ Circuit 15R Off

Function interruption
The automatic control is interrupted by:
^ Washing, touch wiping, afterwiping, wiper start suppression functions or
^ Defective rain/light sensor

Wipe function at a predefined speed
Turning the combination switch to position "3" or "4" switches on continuous wiping.
The requests of the combination switch are read in by the steering column module and placed on the chassis CAN. The central gateway control unit picks off the required data, routes them to the interior CAN, where they are read in by the front SAM control unit. The front SAM control unit actuates the wiper motors based on the requests:
^ Continuous wiping at low speed (approx. 40 cycles per min) combination switch in position "3"
^ Continuous wiping at high speed (approx. 60 cycles per min) combination switch in position "4"

Function abort
^ Turning the combination switch to position "0", "1" or "2"
^ Circuit 15R Off

Function interruption
Wiping at specified speed is interrupted by the washing, afterwiping or wiper start suppression functions.

Touch wiping function
The touch wiping function can only be initiated with combination switch in position "0", "1" or "2".

^ Single wiping: For single touch wiping, briefly push combination switch as far as the detent point.
^ Repeated wiping: When operated for a longer period of time, wiping takes place based on the length of operation.

With touch wiping and combination switch in position "1" or "2", the interval period is restarted after the touch wiping cycle has finished or a new request from the rain/light sensor is waited for. The touch wiping speed corresponds to the wiping speed in position "3".
