Call set-up
Dialing using the portable CTEL keypad
If the portable CTEL keypad is used for dialing, hands-free mode is active. Numbers can also be selected from the portable CTEL telephone book.
Dialing using the center console button group (S148)
The telephone menu must be activated on the COMAND controller unit. The entered telephone number is dialed by pressing the "Send" key when hands-free mode is active.
Dialing using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
The telephone book (menu item "ComTEL/telephone") of the portable CTEL is selected by pressing the system selection button (S110s3) via the selection menu of the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1). The name of the person to call is selected by scrolling forwards and backwards in the telephone book (menu item "ComTEL/telephone") of the portable CTEL using the scroll forward / back button (S110s1). The call is activated using the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3).
Dialing using voice activation
If the VCS [SBS] on button (S111s4) is pressed in the right multifunction steering wheel button group, voice control is activated. An acoustic signal is emitted after activation has taken place. All the functions of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) are then available.
Dialing using the front central operating unit (A40/9)
The telephone function of the so-called Man/Machine Interface (MMI) is selected using the "ComTEL/telephone" menu item or via the telephone/navigation quick select button (A40/9s5).
The following ways of dialing a telephone number are available to the user:
^ Enter the telephone number via the front central operating unit
^ Search for the telephone number in the address book using the "Name" menu item
^ Search for the telephone number in the call lists (accepted, dialed) using the "Call lists" menu item
The name of the person to call can be selected by scrolling forwards and backwards in the address book and the call lists using the scroll forward / back button. The call is activated using the "SEND" function.
All addresses can be managed in the address book (viewed, edited, added, deleted, created). Calls can be made directly via the telephone numbers stored in the address book. This function is called up at the front central operating unit using the "ComTel/ Address book" menu item.
Types of displayed address book entries:
^ Entries which are permanently stored in the memory of the COMAND controller unit
^ Entries in the portable CTEL telephone book. These are buffered in the address book, providing that the portable CTEL is connected to the portable CTEL separation point.
Data from external devices (e.g. Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), laptops, etc.) can also be transferred into the memory of the COMAND controller unit via Bluetooth. These data are then permanently available as address entries.
