Navigation
The navigation system consists of the following components:
^ Navigation processor (integrated in the COMAND controller unit)
^ VICS control unit (A2/37) for dynamic destination-oriented navigation
^ Electronic toll collection (ETC) control unit (A50/3) and electronic toll collection (ETC) antenna (A2/94)
^ Telephone and GPS roof antenna (model 221) or telephone and GPS antenna (A2/49) (model 216)
The following navigation components of the navigation processor are integrated into the COMAND controller unit:
^ Global positioning system (GPS) receiver
^ Hard disk for map and voice data
^ Yaw rate sensor
The navigation data are compiled in the navigation processor where they are processed. The data basis is the navigation map, which is stored on the hard disk in the COMAND controller unit. The data are then internally processed and displayed on the COMAND display or in the instrument cluster. The audio signals are sent from the COMAND controller unit over the MOST to the audio tuner control unit and from there to the speaker system.
