GF91.59-P-0001QA Roll Bar (RB), Function

The roll bar is located below in the head restraints in rear. The roll bar protects the occupants from severe injuries in the event of a rollover or crash. All functions of the roll bar are controlled by the power soft top control module (N52).

Basic requirements:
- Rollover and crash detection by the power soft top control module (N52).
- Circuit 15 ON

The roll bar system essentially consists of the following components/assemblies:
- Roll bar on left and right
- Soft top operation control module (N52)
- Left rollover module deployment solenoid (57/2)
- Right rollover module deployment solenoid (57/3).

If the roll bars have tnggered they can be lowered manually as follows:
- Press down using the Allen wrench in the gap of the trim seam in each case on the left in the direction of travel next to the respective head restraint and press down on the head restraint until it engages.

Extending and retracting the roll bar
If the power soft top control module (N52) detects a rollover or a crash the roll bars are raised automatically. In the event of a deployment preloaded helical springs provide the required raising force and a lock pawl prevents the roll bars from lowering. The raising of the roll bars is displayed in the instrument cluster (Al) by the roll bar (RB) warning lamp (Al e29).

If the roll bars are extended the head restraints in the rear cannot be lowered. In this case it is not possible to open or close the soft top electrically. It must then be actuated manually.

Should it be necessary to deploy the roll bar it is possible to raise it with the help of the Allen wrench from the luggage compartment by pressure on the roll bar unit
