GF91.59-P-2001QA Roll Bar Crash Deployment Function

A crash deployment of the roll bar takes place, when:
^ The sensor integrated in the power soft top control module (N52) signals the vehicle inclination of more than 57° being exceeded for longer than 100 ms.
^ The acceleration of the vehicle in any direction is greater than 3-times the normal g force.

Function
The support and operating element is held in the basic position by the left rollover module deployment solenoid (Y57/2) and right rollover module deployment solenoid (Y57/3).

The roll bar is raised automatically in a fraction of a second.

The power soft top control module (N52) actuates the left rollover module deployment solenoid (Y57/2) and right rollover module deployment solenoid (Y57/3). The roll bar now shoots up into its final position as a result of spring force. This process is accompanied by a crunching noise as the lock pawl is engaged with the rack during the raising process. The stop is dampened just before reaching the final position. The rack with lock pawl locking prevents the roll bar from being pushed back into the body in the event of the vehicle rolling over.
