Component Identification:

Location
The communications control unit is located on an equipment carrier beneath the armrest stowage compartment in the center console.

Task
- Interface from and to mobile phone between COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and mobile phone connected to cell phone separation point (X39/37) and adapter cable

The communication control unit also performs the following tasks:

- 5 V power supply from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Switch-on or switch off signal from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Voice signals from hands-free system microphone (B25) via the COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Mobile phone signals and data from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Control signals from following components via COMAND operating, display and controller unit:
- Telephone buttons or keypad on COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

- Control signals from mobile phone buttons via adapter cable and cell phone separation point from mobile phone
- Mobile phone signals and data via adapter cable and cell phone separation point from mobile phone
- Voice signals via adapter cable and cell phone separation point from mobile phone

Only the communication control unit is supplied with power (5 V). The mobile phone is not supplied with power via the cell phone separation point or the adapter cable, i.e., the mobile phone is not charged.

The mobile phone is connected to the telephone antenna (A2/22) via the following route:

- Direct line
- Adapter cable
