GF82.61-P-4001RA Route Guidance In Non-Digitized MAP Area, Function

GF82.61-P-4001RA Route Guidance In Non-Digitized Map Area, Function
- with CODE (352) COMAND operating and display system
- except CODE (491) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

When driving outside the digitized map area (e. g. company premises, multi-level car parks, country lanes,...), but still within the CD-ROM map border, the navigation processor of the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) switches over to "route guidance not in digitized map area".

The following message appears on the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) display:
"OFF ROAD"

When the vehicle is outside of the CD-ROM map boundaries, also including locations outside of the country, the following message appears:
"OFF MAP"

As of 1.7.02 when entering OFF road mode the road map is switched on and route information is displayed during OFF ROAD mode.

In such cases, only basic location finding (dead reckoning) is accomplished with correction using the GPS data. Limited route guidance is accomplished by indicating only:
^ Distance to destination as the crow flies
^ Distance to destination (as arrow)

After reentering the digitized map area, the system automatically continues with "Route guidance in digitized map area" . With the aid of the GPS position, the possible roads are determined on which the vehicle could be located.
However, temporary delays in route guidance can occur.

When the message "OFF MAP" appears, complete route guidance can be continued by inserting the proper CD-ROM for the foreign country.
