This document covers the following points:

^ Operating the multifunction display
^ Call display of different systems
^ Scrolling within a system
^ Example: display engine oil level

^ Individual settings
^ Change setting
^ Example: change the temperature display from degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit
^ Resetting the manufacturer default settings
^ Call stored fault and warning messages
^ Acknowledging fault and warning messages on the left multifunction display (A1p13) and right multifunction display (A1p15)
^ Adjust brightness of illumination

Operating the left multifunction display (A1p13) and right multifunction display (A1p15)
If the instrument cluster (A1) is activated by opening the driver's door, for instance, the main screen of the base system (trip and total mileage on left display and outside temperature on right display) always appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13) and right multifunction display (A1p15).

Call display of different systems
Function requirements:
Circuit 15R: ON

By pressing the system selection button (S110s3) on the multifunction steering wheel, the left multifunction display (A1p13 and right multifunction display (A1p15) are switched to the basic screen of the next system. The duration of actuation is of no importance.
The display jumps on one system each time the button is pressed. After running through all the systems, the display returns to the main screen of the base function and then begins running through the systems again from the beginning.

The adjacent figure shows the possible systems arranged in a circle. When the driver presses the system selection button (S110s3), the display jumps forward in the direction of the arrow to the next system.

The display scrolls either forwards or backwards depending on which portion of the button the driver presses.

Only systems and functions with which the vehicle is equipped are displayed. If a system is not available, it is "skipped" when the driver presses the system selection button (S110s3).

Scrolling within a system
Function requirements:
Circuit 15R: ON

In addition to the main screen, most systems also feature other screens.
The driver can use the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) to browse within a system.
The function of the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) is shown in the illustration below taking the basic system as an example. The display jumps one screen further each time the driver presses the scroll forward/back button (S110s1).

The display scrolls either forwards or backwards depending on which portion of the button the driver presses.

The driver can jump to another system from any screen by pressing the system selection button (S110s3).
With the exception of the trip computer function, the main screen of the system then appears.
If the driver changes to the trip computer system, the last system displayed for the trip computer system appears on the display.

Example: Check engine oil level (the ignition is switched on):
^ Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the base function (trip and total mileage) is displayed.
^ either:
^ press the scroll forward button three times, or four times with tire pressure monitor special equipment
^ press the scroll back button once.

Individual settings
Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15R: ON

Using the "Settings... " function the driver can change various
presets.

Procedure:
1. Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the "Settings..." function appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).

Carry out reset:
^ Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the "Settings..." function appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).
^ Press the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1) and hold down for at least 3 seconds.

^ If the driver does not press the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1) within 10 seconds, the display returns to the main screen. The settings are then not reset.

For safety reasons when resetting the settings when driving the "driving light switching" in the "Illumination" menu and the "speed limit (winter tires) in the "Vehicle" menu are not reset.
The following message appears:
"NOT ALL SETTINGS RESET TO DEFAULTS WHILE DRIVING". Calling stored fault and warning messages
The driver can scroll through the stored messages when the instrument cluster (A1) is activated:
^ Press the system selection key (S110s3) continuing until the "--FAULTS" display appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).
^ Scroll through the fault messages using the + and -, specific function setting and volume control button (S111s1). The messages are displayed in the order in which they were acknowledged.

Acknowledging fault and warning messages on the left multifunction display (A1p13) and right multifunction display (A1p15)
The messages are divided into three categories according to their priority:

Messages of categories 2 and 3 on the left multifunction display (A1p13) can be acknowledged by pressing the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1) and the system selection button (S110s3) of the multifunction steering wheel and are then stored in the fault memory. Messages belonging to category 1 (highest priority) cannot be acknowledged. Fault or warning lamps that light up in parallel cannot be acknowledged.

Certain fault and warning messages are also accompanied by a chime.
A chime always sounds with red fault and warning messages. Fault and warning messages such as "CLOSE TRUNK LID", for example, are not stored in the fault memory.

Set the illumination brightness
The brightness of illumination of the instrument cluster (A1) and the switch and controls illumination can be adapted to individual requirements with the Instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1):
^ Turn the regulator clockwise to increase the brightness, or counterclockwise to decrease the brightness.
