GF82.10-P-3012R Substitute Lamp Actuation, Function
When the exterior lights are switched on, the bulbs and LEDs are monitored continuously by the corresponding control units for short circuit and line interruption:
^ Driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) for the left front lamp unit (E1)
^ Front passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) for the right front lamp unit (E2)
^ Rear SAM control unit (N10/8) for the left taillamp (E3) and the right taillamp (E4)
In the event of failure of lighting relevant to safety the corresponding substitute lamp is actuated.
The scope of substitute light actuations depends on the national version. Flashing functions have priority over continuous light. With a time-out of the country-specific information, no substitute light is activated if the turn signal lamp (E1e5, E2e5, E3e1, E4e1) fails.
Lamp failure indicator
A lamp defect is displayed as text in the right multifunction display (A1p15) of the instrument cluster (A1).
