GF40.15-P-0001-04RE Tire pressure monitor (TPM), messages relevant to the function
- with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version
- as of 1.6.05 up to model year 08
Messages related to function in the left multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) show the driver the status of the tire pressure monitor (TPM).
Messages relevant to the function:
^ System fault(s)
^ System messages
System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.
System messages describe a regular operating condition. In the event of complaint there is no reason to exchange system components.
The following system errors may be present:
^ Faults in the CAN data bus
^ Failure of a system component e.g. TPM [RDK] control unit defective
^ At least one wheel fitted without a TPM wheel sensor
^ The instrument cluster does not receive any CAN messages from TPM [RDK] control unit (e.g. cable discontinuity or disconnected connector with ignition "ON" (circuit 15)
A corresponding fault code is stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit.
This system message is displayed if:
^ The TPM [RDK] control unit has been exchanged
^ A red message, relevant to operation, was displayed during previous driving
The system message is displayed for approx. 30 seconds each time the vehicle is restarted, when in the TPM [RDK] control unit the monitoring function has been set to "Not active".
This information message is displayed once the request to activate the system has been canceled.
The TPM system is reactivated by pressing the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1).
The system message is displayed for a temporary fault in the TPM system.
This system message is activated for the following criteria:
^ A new TPM wheel sensor was fitted and is currently being taught in
^ An external interference transmitter is hindering data transfer
^ The temperature of one TPM wheel sensor is above 120 degrees C
^ An additional TPM wheel sensor is being carried in the vehicle (e.g. winter wheels in luggage compartment)
No repairs are necessary.
The pressure values are only shown following activation, once the TPM system has detected an unambiguous assignment. Until the teach-in process is finished (total driving time approx. 10 minutes) the information message above is displayed instead of the pressure values.
This information message cannot be canceled with the reset button. Pressing the reset button restarts the activation.
The current tire pressures are displayed with ignition "ON" (circuit 15).
The TPM system has been switched off using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
