The safety fuel shutoff is activated:
^ In the event of mechanical faults in the throttle valve actuator ->the engine speed is limited to approx. 1400 rpm by cutting out the fuel injection valves
^ In case of errors of the engine speed signal "TNA" ->the fuel pump actuation is interrupted.
^ When receiving a crash signal (from the restraint systems control unit) accompanied by triggering of airbags ->The ME control unit switches off the fuel pump and actuates the fuel injection valves shortly in order to depressurize the fuel system.
On model 230 up to 06/2002 the intank fuel pump (N118/1) was not directly actuated by the ME control unit but via the intank fuel pump control unit.
