Easy entry/exit steering column adjustment, function
In order to make it easier to leave the vehicle, the driver's seat and the steering column are moved to an entry/exit position (seat back and steering column raised). Adjustment to the entry/exit position is triggered by the ignition key position and door contact states.

While the "easy entry/exit" function is in operation, the "head restraint presetting" function is not carried out.

The following information is read in and processed by the driver-side front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32/1) via the passenger compartment CAN:
^ Rear SAM control module (N10/8) sends the status of the
^ left door contact switch (S17/3)
^ DI control module (N73) sends the status of the circuits
^ Instrument cluster (A1) sends easy entry/exit activated
^ Left door control module (N69/1) sends the status of the left seat adjustment switch group (S91/2).

If all the requirements are fulfilled and if actuation is not aborted, the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) actuates the height adjustment up/down motor (M20m2).

Abort conditions:
The left front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32/1) deactivates the easy entry and exit function if the driver presses one of the following switches:
^ a switch in the instrument cluster (A1)
^ steering column adjustment raise/lower, forward/back switch (S59/1s1)
^ one of the switches in the left seat adjustment switch group (S91/2)
^ left rear compartment access switch (S137)

If the driver deactivates the easy entry/exit function, this function can only be reactivated by the following operating states:
^ No circuit after circuit 15c
^ Circuit 15R after circuit 15

The easy entry/exit feature is only reinitiated if a valid state transition is available to trigger the easy entry/exit function.

Longitudinal adjustment of the seat to the entry/exit position is aborted by the left front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32/1) if the following errors occur:
^ Longitudinal seat adjustment denormalized
^ Longitudinal seat adjustment position sensor (Hall sensor) faulty

Abort due to contrary state transitions
Adjustment to the entry/exit position is aborted by the left front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32/1) if the following changes in the ignition key position and door contact status occur:
^ No circuit after circuit 15c
^ Circuit 15c after circuit 15R
^ Circuit 15R after circuit 15
^ Driver's door open after driver's door closed

Repeat limiter
Alternately inserting and removing the ignition key causes repeated back and forth movement between the easy entry/exit and driving positions (with door open: steering column only; with door closed: seat and steering column). To prevent this, the number of cycles is limited to 5. The counter is reset if
^ the ignition key is turned to circuit 15R, or
^ if the status of the driver's door changes.
