Only carry out the oil level check at room temperature and not when the rear axle differential (1) is at operating temperature. Otherwise oil which is required may run out when rear axle differential is at operating temperature.

1 Clean area around the banjo bolt (1b) and threaded insert (3).
2 Remove banjo bolt (1b) and remove oil lines (2) with sealing rings (2a).

Collect oil which runs out of the oil line (2) in the authorized container.

3 Seal oil lines (2) with stop plugs and bind upwards.

The line opening must be located above the filler hole.

4 Unscrew threaded insert (3).

Do not remove if the rear axle differential (1) has to be prefilled.

Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.
Carry out steps 5 to 14 after replacing the coolant pump (M75), the oil lines, the cooler or rear axle differential (1).

5 Prefill rear axle differential (1) with specified oil quantity.
6 Mount oil lines (2) with sealing rings (2a) and banjo bolt (1b) on rear axle differential (1).
7 Unlock and disconnect connector (X1511).
8 Connect plug contacts with adapter line from electrical connection kit.
9 Switch on ignition.

Switch on the ignition twice for approx. 30 s with a discontinuity of 1 min.

Allow the ignition to be switched on for a maximum of 30 s otherwise there is a threat of damage to the coolant pump (M75)
The running noise of the coolant pump (M75) must get quieter as soon as oil flows through the coolant pump (M75). If the coolant pump (M75) does not run, determine cause and eliminate subject to separate repair order.
10 Switch off ignition.
11 Detach adapter line and connector (X15/1) plug together connector.
12 Remove banjo bolt (1b) and remove oil lines (2) with sealing rings (2a).
Collect oil which runs out of the oil lines (2) in the authorized container.
13 Seal oil lines (2) with stop plugs and bind upwards.
The line opening must be located above the filler hole.
14 Unscrew threaded insert (3).
Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.

The threaded insert (3) must be removed from the filler bore, otherwise the rear axle differential (1) will be overfilled, which can lead to leakage and harm to persons, property and the environment
15 Check oil level.
When the oil level is correct the oil level reaches to the bottom edge of the filler bore in the rear axle differential (1).

Allow excess oil to flow off. An incorrect oil filling quantity can result in personal injury or damage to property or the environment.
16 Clean the new threaded insert (3) as well as filler bore in the rear axle differential (1).
To prevent leakage, always install a new threaded insert (3) to replace the one removed.
17 Screw new threaded insert (3) into the rear axle differential (1) and tighten.
Apply a drop of sealant at third thread from bottom and immediately install new threaded insert (3).
18 Mount oil lines (2) with banjo bolt (1b) on rear axle differential
Install new sealing rings (2a).
19 Carry out leak check on rear axle differential (1) and connecting points.
