The power supply is via the front prefuse box (F32), the rear prefuse box (F33), the passenger-side fuse and relay module (K40/4) and the rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Voltage supply: refer to Wiring Diagrams, Group 54.
The ME control unit features a short-circuit protection as well as a reversed polarity protection in the operating voltage section.
The ME control unit is supplied to the following terminals with the voltage:
Coupling F, Pin 3: Terminal 87 engine 1
Coupling F, Pin 5: Terminal 87 engine 2
Coupling F, Pin 15: Terminal 15 (detection of ignition ON/OFF)
Coupling F, Pin 16: Terminal 30 (fused with 7.5 A fuse, rear prefuse box)
Coupling F, Pin 27: Actuation (ground signal) motor electronics/ chassis relay
Ground connections are made via coupling 2, pins 2, 4 and 6.
If all prefuses are OK, the motor electronics/chassis relay (K40/4kK) is connected to terminal 30.
If the relay has closed the power contact, power is supplied via the relay from circuit 30z via two fuses as tml. 87 engine 1 (required for engine running) and tml. 87 engine 2 (not essential for engine running) to the ME control unit and engine control.
The motor electronics/chassis relay are actuated by the ME control unit on the ground side when the incoming signal "tml. 15 fused On" from the EIS control unit is detected by the ME control unit.
If the ME control unit detects the signal "tml. 15 Fused Off" from the EIS control unit, the motor electronics/chassis relay continues to be actuated by ME control unit until computer power down is complete. In this way, the ME control unit determines pick-up and holding of the relay for the motor electronics/chassis relay.
Once the computer has powered down, the relay is disconnected and the ME control unit and engine control are isolated from the on-board electrical system.
