Location
The radar sensors are fitted from the rear in the bumper.
Task
The radar sensors (short range sensors) recognize objects (e.g. vehicles) within a short range up to 30 m and at an angle up to 140°. They cover the speed range of the vehicle from standstill up to the maximum speed and are therefore an ideal complement to long range radar.
Design
The radar sensors are ultra wideband radar sensors with the following properties:
- Radar sensor detection range 0.2 m to 30 m at a resolution of 0.04 m
- Detection zone 80° with angle measurement and 140° with detection only
- Radar sensor with 24.125 GHz carrier frequency
- Operation: short pulse method with 5 GHz bandwidth
The radar sensors are broadband, facilitating highly precise position data and simplifying the separation of objects within close range of one another.
Coding (differentiation) for the individual radar sensors takes place by means of different assignment with ground on pin 5 and 6.
Function
Actuation and evaluation of the front and rear radar sensors takes place from radar sensors control unit (SGR) (N62/1) up to YoM 09 facelift respectively via a sensor-CAN (CAN S) and as YoM 09 facelift via a common sensor CAN.
