GF82.90-P-2002LE Rear Entertainment Switch On/off Behavior And System Settings, Function
- with CODE (864) Rear entertainment system

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 30 On and telematics CAN (CAN A) active for t = 10 min (one vehicle door is opened) or circuit 15R On
^ Rear entertainment system is switched on and operating properly

Rear entertainment ON/OFF behavior and system settings, general
With circuit 30 On and telematics CAN active or circuit 15R On, the rear entertainment system is switched on or off using the "ON/ OFF" button on the left rear display (A40/5) or on the right rear display (A40/6).

After it has been switched on, the following applications are available:
- "Disk":
- "TV" (with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner or code (529) HIGH Class Japan
- "AUX1" (e.g. video camera, MP3 player or game console)
- "AUX2" (e.g. video camera, MP3 player or game console)

When the "ON/OFF" button on the left rear display is pressed, only the left rear display is switched on and the listed applications can only be run on the left rear display.
When the "ON/OFF" button on the right rear display is pressed, only the right rear display is switched on and the listed applications can only be run on the right rear display.
Upon actuation of the "ON/OFF" button on the left rear display and on the right rear display, both rear displays are switched on and the listed applications can be run on both rear displays. It is only necessary to select the respective rear display using the left screen button (N72/2s5) or the right screen button (N72/2s4) when the TV application is operated via the RCP [HBF] control unit (N72/2).

Additionally, the following settings can be made after it has been switched on:
- System settings
- Regulation of the background illumination of the rear display
- Regulation of the volume of the audio signals

The rear entertainment ON/OFF behavior and system settings function consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Switch on function sequence
^ Function sequence for additional settings via the RCP [HBF] control unit
^ Function sequence for additional settings via buttons on the rear display
^ Switch off function sequence

Switch on function sequence
The switch-on signal from the "ON/OFF" button on the rear display is forwarded via telematics CAN to the DVD player (A40/4). The DVD player then transmits the audio and picture signals for the corporate identity screen for approx. t = 6 s via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line to the rear display. Next, the DVD player transmits the audio and picture signals of the application that was active before the last switch off via the LVDS line to the rear display.
In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, and when the "Speaker" setting in the "System settings" area is selected, the audio signals are transmitted additionally via a direct line to the audio tuner control unit (N93/1).

Function sequence for additional settings via the RCP [HBF] control unit
The "System settings" menu at the lower edge of the screen of the rear display can be used to make the corresponding settings in the following menu items:
- "Display":
- "Display off"
- "Day screen"
- "Night screen"
- "Automatic"
- "Language": Selection of the system language
- "Speaker" (with code (810) Sound system): Output of audio signals starting with status of circuit 15R On over the speaker system

When both rear displays are switched on, the corresponding rear display is selected via the "Speaker" menu item for which the audio signal is to be output starting with status of circuit 15R On over the speaker system.

The menu items are selected and the settings are made via the following controls of the RCP [HBF] control unit:
- Right screen button
- Left screen button
- Right "Back" button (N72/2s6)
- Left "Back" button (N72/2s7)
- Rear rotary pushbutton (N72/2s8)

The screen button is used to activate the menu on the screen of the rear display.

Function sequence for additional settings via buttons on the rear display
The following buttons on the rear display can be used to make the corresponding settings on the particular rear display:
- "-" and "+" buttons (sun symbol):
- Regulation of the background illumination of the display

- "-" and "+" buttons (labeled "VOL")
- Regulation of the volume of the audio signals

The signals of the buttons listed are transmitted via telematics CAN to the DVD player. The DVD player evaluates the signals and transmits the audio and picture signals via the corresponding LVDS line to the rear display. In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, and when the "Speaker" setting in the "System settings" area is selected, the audio signals are transmitted additionally starting with the status of circuit 15R On via a direct line to the audio tuner control unit.

In addition to the manual control of the background illumination for the rear display, a photo sensor is integrated in the corresponding rear display. The signals are read in, evaluated, and implemented in the same way as for the manual control of the background illumination in the corresponding rear display.

Switch off function sequence
The switch-off signal from the "ON/OFF" button on the rear display is forwarded via telematics CAN to the DVD player.
The DVD player then stores the application of the rear display that was used last and interrupts the transmission of the audio and picture signals.
