GF54.35-P-3010RI Fanfare Horns Component Description
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The fanfare horns are located behind the radiator grille.
Task
The fanfare horns are the audible warning system of the vehicle. They are used to warn other road users by issuing a uniform and constant signal tone.
One high-tone fanfare horn and one low-tone fanfare horn are installed.
Design
The fanfare horn consists of an electromagnet, a vibratory armature with diaphragm and a contact breaker actuated by the armature.
Function
When the fanfare horn is actuated, the armature with diaphragm is attracted by the electromagnet. The contact breaker opens the electrical circuit just before the armature hits the magnet core.
The armature then springs back, causing the contact breaker point to close again. This procedure is repeated for as long as the request is present. The backward and forward movement of the diaphragm causes the air in the fanfare horn to vibrate, generating the characteristic fanfare horn sound in the spiral funnel.
